Time-Saving Life Hacks You Can Do From Your Phone

Most of us have incredible devices in our pockets that we carry with us every day that we take for granted. You’d be amazed the mobile apps that have been developed specifically to keep people productive while saving considerable amounts of time throughout the day.

Lihehacks_productivity.pngIn this post, we’ll discuss our top eight time-saving apps you need to have on your phone to help you save time and increase your productivity. From project organization, team communication, to link saving, you’ll be amazed how much time you can save by utilizing these apps.

Boomerang

This is an excellent app for managing your emails. The problem with always being connected and plugged into the internet is that it is incredibly easy to get distracted. Constant email notifications are one of the worst distractions, which is where Boomerang comes in. This app is a plug-in for Gmail and Outlook which lets you temporarily dismiss email messages you don't need to see at that moment. You can snooze them and have them reappear in a few hours or a couple of days when you're ready to read them.

Trello

This powerful tool helps you manage a team effectively and efficiently, ensuring your workflow is simple. Each individual task is visualized as a card and can be grouped with similar jobs and assigned to specific individuals on your team. You can comment on cards and even post links or file attachments. You can be notified when someone posts on specific tasks (although we recommend limiting notifications, so you aren't distracted throughout the day.)

Todoist

This is an excellent app for your to-do lists. The app is simple to use and is packed with tons of features to keep you on track to accomplish your tasks for the day. You can be reminded of your to-do's when you arrive or leave a specific location, or at a particular time, so you have no excuse for being forgetful anymore. Now, this app won't keep you from procrastinating, but it will keep you on track if you have the willpower.

Moment

Moment is a great way to keep track of your smartphone usage so you can put the phone down and focus on work. The app runs in the background and tracks the time that you spend looking at your phone and also will show you in which apps you're spending the most time. If your most used app isn’t a productive one, it’s time to make some changes.

Basecamp

If you're working on a complex project with multiple contributors, or manage a team of employees, Basecamp is a necessary app to have on your phone and on your computer as well. The tool allows you to post projects and assign to-dos to individual team members. Team members can comment, and have discussions with one another, saving the team to meet in person.

Dragon

If you do end up having to meet in-person, a transcription app will save you time taking notes, and you'll be able to look back and read a text version of the meeting. We recommend the free version of Dragon as a bare-bones transcription tool. It isn't perfect, but it is relatively accurate and will provide you with a text document of your meeting.

Google Drive

Google Drive is a one-stop shop for your online storage needs. In the free version, you'll have 15GB of space to store documents, pictures, or any digital file you would like to have backed up. You can share these documents with anyone with a Google account, and it's a great time-saver for transferring data efficiently. You no longer have to put something on a jump drive and physically get it to the person—simply send them a link! You can even edit documents on-the-go with the other Google apps such as Google Docs.

Pocket

Find an interesting article that you'd like to read, but you have more important things to do at the moment? Pocket is your solution for saving links into one convenient place. When you stumble across something you'd like to read later, simply send it to the Pocket app, and you can read all of your articles –even view videos– when you have the time. Pocket will also download the articles and videos so you can read them when you're offline on the subway home. This is an excellent choice to help you stay focused instead of spending time reading articles when you should be productive.

Make sure you check out these mobile apps and give them a try. You'll be amazed how much time you'll save when you utilize your smartphone for more than mindless internet browsing. Keep your team organised, and more importantly, keep yourself organised and productive with these apps!
